Well near Leptopoda

Hikers on this route will eventually come across a second well. Since antiquity, water has been viewed as the dominant element in nature. Thales of Miletus postulated that “water is the origin of all things”, while there are even accounts of water being worshipped as a deity and as a medium for purification. It’s crucial to life and the natural balance. The wells on the route are exquisitely crafted examples of late-19th century Ottoman engineering. In fact, they survive in excellent condition without any additions or interventions.
